WASHINGTON (AP) — The Biden administration plans to propose a new rule Thursday aimed at speeding up the asylum claims process for some migrants — a potential prelude to broader actions from President Joe Biden later this year that would impose a bigger crackdown at the border.
It's meant to affect migrants with criminal records or those who would otherwise be eventually deemed ineligible for asylum in the United States. The proposal, which the Department of Homeland Security plans to announce on Thursday, was confirmed by four people familiar with its contents who were granted anonymity to detail plans not yet public.
WASHINGTON (TND) — Haim Saban, the media mogul behind Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, criticized President Joe Biden’s pledge to condition military aid for Israel in an email shared by Axios reporter Barak Ravid on Thursday.
Saban, who is a major Democratic PArty donor, argued the U.S.’s restriction was a “bad,,,bad,,,bad,,,decision, on all levels.”

University Park, PA (WJAC) — Penn State's star defensive-back Joey Porter Jr. announced on social media Wednesday that he is opting out of the Nittany Lions' bowl game this season and will declare for the upcoming 2023 NFL Draft.
Porter Jr. played in 10 games this season for the Nittany Lions, recording 21 solo tackles, 11 passes defended and one fumble recovery.
The redshirt junior is expected to be a high-end draft pick in 2023.
HARRISBURG -- Pennsylvania is hoping tourists will pursue happiness.
New welcome signs with the slogan "Pennsylvania. Pursue Your Happiness" are going up on the state's interstates and major highways. They'll be replacing ones that have been in place since 1997.
The first of the 37 signs were installed on Interstate 80 in Monroe County and the other was placed on I-78 in Northampton County.
Officials say they want to promote a positive image of Pennsylvania.
RICHLAND TOWNSHIP – After a series of robberies, Richland Township police said violent crime is on the rise in the area.
Authorities said residents are more likely to be confronted with a life-or-death situation.
Detective Kevin Gaudlip said it's best to be proactive because robberies happen unexpectedly.
He said people should ask themselves, “What would I do if I was robbed?”
He gave 6 News some recommendations for the public.
