Portage Area School District hosts WoodMobile

The Pennsylvania WoodMobile was at thePortage Area School District on Thursday to educate kids from 3rd to 6th grades about our forest and the various things that sustain it but also the different factors that hurt it such as invasive species and improper forest management. The WoodMobile is a 34-foot trailer that provides an educational space for kids to have an interactive experience. The program stresses the significance of forests in Pennsylvania.

Potter Township couple killed in ATV crash

CENTRE COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — Authorities in Centre County say a Potter Township couple was killed Monday in an ATV rollover crash. Centre County coroner Scott Sayers says Timothy and Sharon Belcher, both age 67, were pronounced dead at the scene Monday night. Officials say autopsies have been scheduled and no further details have been released at this time. State police are investigating the cause of the 4-wheeler accident. Stowaway scorpion stings Pennsylvania man after vacation

WARMINSTER -- A Pennsylvania man is recovering after he was stung by a scorpion that somehow got into his backpack while he was on vacation in the Caribbean. The 22-year-old Warminster resident had returned home from St. Thomas and reached into the pack to get his computer when he was stung. Buddy Mullen of A-1 Exterminators tells WPVI-TV in Philadelphia the scorpion disappeared in the man's bedroom. Mullen's team flipped the sheets and the scorpion fell to the floor.

3 charged after assaulting man at Clearfield County Uni-mart, police say

LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP, Pa. (WJAC) — Three Clearfield men are facing assault-related charges after injuring and choking a 63-year-old man at a Uni-mart Saturday, police said. According to Lawrence Township Police, 37-year-old George Irwin, 44-year-old Jason Peters and 46-year-old Jeffrey Peters assaulted the man at the Hyde Uni-Mart after an unprovoked altercation involving a previous civil manner. Police say the three men fled after assaulting the man, but charges have since been filed.

Divers in day 4 of search for missing fisherman at Prince Gallitzin State Park

GLENDALE, Pa. -- The search for a missing fisherman is now into day four at Prince Gallitzin State Park. Park officials said the boat of a 67-year-old man came up empty Friday near the Beaver Valley Marina. Divers and recovery teams from across the region searched the 1,600-acre lake all day Monday. Rafts and pontoon boats were filled with people searching the water and shoreline but, so far, they’ve yet to find that missing man.
