Slovakia's prime minister wounded in attack while meeting with supporters

BRATISLAVA, Slovakia (AP) — Slovakia's populist Prime Minister Robert Fico was wounded in a shooting Wednesday afternoon and taken to hospital. Reports on TA3, a Slovakian TV station, said that Fico, 59, was hit in the stomach after four shots were fired outside the House of Culture in the town of Handlova, some 150 kilometers northeast of the capital, where the leader was meeting with supporters. A suspect has been detained, it said.

Angie Harmon sues Instacart after delivery driver fatally shoots her dog

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (TND) — Actor Angie Harmon has filed a lawsuit against grocery delivery app Instacart and one of its former drivers after her dog was fatally shot in March while items were being dropped off at her North Carolina home. Court documents obtained by People show Harmon is accusing the delivery service and the driver of "alleged trespassing, conversion, negligence, negligent supervision/hiring, invasion of privacy and negligent misrepresentation" for the incident that happened on Easter weekend.

Ex-interpreter for Shohei Ohtani to plead guilty in illegal gambling case

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The former interpreter for Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani has agreed to plead guilty to bank and tax fraud in a sports betting case in which prosecutors allege he stole nearly $17 million from the Japanese baseball player to pay off debts, federal prosecutors said Wednesday. The scandal surrounding Ippei Mizuhara shocked baseball fans from the U.S. to Japan when the news broke in March.

Huntingdon Commissioner candidate charged in domestic dispute

HUNTINGDON COUNTY, Pa. — A woman running for Huntingdon County commissioner is accused of strangling her daughter during an argument on Friday, authorities say. According to a criminal complaint, Andrea Speck, 41, became angry with her daughter for an unknown reason when her daughter got home from work. The criminal complaint states that Speck began yelling at her daughter after leading her into her bedroom before striking her in the head from behind.

Penn State files lawsuit against longtime broadcast partner

University Park, PA (WJAC) — Penn State is filing a federal lawsuit against one of its longtime broadcast partners. Learfield Communications has been a multimedia partner for various Penn State athletic teams for more than 20 years. But with the university apparently lining up a contract with another company, Learfield is raising questions on the bidding process and other information. Penn State filed the suit this week, claiming Learfield isn't entitled to the information, under Right-to- Know laws.
