1 fraternity brother dead, 1 arrested after fight

INDIANA -- Authorities say one of two fraternity brothers involved in a fight near their central Pennsylvania university campus later died, and the other member was arrested on an assault charge. Indiana Borough police allege that 20-year-old Caleb Zweig was choked during the altercation just after 11 p.m. Friday near the Indiana University of Pennsylvania campus. Police said the Rockville, Maryland man later died at Indiana Regional Medical Center. The coroner is awaiting results of toxicology and other tests.

Altoona hosts annual Veterans Day parade

ALTOONA, Pa (WJAC) — Despite the pandemic, Blair County still celebrated veterans on Saturday, ahead of Veterans Day. The annual parade started around 10:30 a.m. and ended with a ceremony on 11th avenue to honor, thank, and acknowledge those who served. Organizer of the event Lloyd Peck says it was a great turn out for the veterans. "All those months I worked, I visited places, talked to them, asked them to come and be in the Veterans Day parade to honor our veterans, present and past, and we honored a marine today, which over 7,000 marines died there.

An accessible kayak launch is the newest addition to a Somerset County reservoir

Johnstown, Pa — There's a new and exciting addition to the Quemahoning Reservoir just in time for summer, an accessible kayak launch! 6 News first met and introduced you to the woman behind the accessible kayak launch last August when it was just an idea, ten months later and that dream is now reality. Shelly Kerchner, the Program Coordinator with Open Waters for All says she hasn't kayaked in about four years, but that long wait is finally almost over as she will be kayaking again soon thanks to the accessible kayak launch which was installed in the Quemahoning Reservoir Tuesday.

One dead in overnight house fire in Huntingdon

HUNTINGDON, Pa. (WJAC) — A woman is dead after a fire broke out in an apartment duplex overnight in Huntingdon County. It happened at a duplex on Mifflin Street in Huntingdon, according to emergency dispatchers. According to Huntingdon Regional Fire and Rescue Fire Chief, crews were called to the scene around 1:45 a.m Thursday. Authorities said crews were on scene for several hours battling the blaze, clearing the scene at 5:45 a.

Rare great white shark sighting off Alabama coast caught on camera

MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) — A rare great white shark sighting about 30 miles off the Alabama coast was caught on camera. Researchers at the University of South Alabama (USA) captured video of a juvenile female great white shark hanging out south of the Sand Island lighthouse. According to a news release from USA, this is the first known sighting in that area recorded by scientists, and this juvenile shark has never been recorded before.
