Organizers announce venue change for 'Thunder in the Valley' replacement event fundraiser

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WJAC) — As we continue to follow the fundraising for “Rumble Through the Valley,” which is the summer event Cambria County organizers hope to have in place of "Thunder in the Valley,” the location for the event has changed. According to "Rumble through the Valley's" Facebook page, the fundraiser event will now take place at People's Natural Gas Park on June 22nd, instead of at Lorain Park. Festivities will start at the park at noon and will go on until 10 p.

Police confident of eventual arrest in mall shooting

MONROEVILLE, Pa. (AP) — Authorities are expressing confidence about an eventual arrest in a shooting outside a western Pennsylvania mall that prompted an evacuation Monroeville police say two groups of four to five males began fighting at about 8 p.m. Friday, and the brawl spilled outside, where one person pulled a gun and fired about 10 shots. No injuries were reported. The mall, about 17 miles (27.36 kilometers) east of Pittsburgh was placed on lockdown and later evacuated.

Security video captures brawl between mariachis, flame-swallower in Mexico

MEXICO — Mexico's often violent battles between street performers reached a new level this week when a group of a half-dozen burly street musicians - guitar-toting mariachis --- at first seemed to be prevailing in a brawl with another street performer, a flame-swallower. What happened next was perhaps predictable. According to security-camera video, the mariachis, in their white, silver-buttoned jackets, at first seemed to be winning, punching the flame-swallower to the ground and repeatedly kicking him on the sidewalk in front of a taco restaurant named, appropriately enough, Hell.

'Easter for Eli' donating Easter baskets for ninth year

Eli Garrett lost his battle with Non-Hodgkin’s T-Cell Lymphoma. on May 7th, 2009, just 10 days before his fourth birthday. This year marks the ninth straight year Eli’s father, Martin, has delivered Easter baskets to children hospitalized for the holiday. Founder of “Easter for Eli” Martin Garrett said, "We're looking for completed Easter baskets. No food, no candy." Items that can be donated include card games, board games, and stuffed animals, Garrett asks that baskets are covered by a clear basket wrap.
