Despite the pandemic, Blair County still celebrated veterans on Saturday, ahead of Veterans Day.

The annual parade started around 10:30 a.m. and ended with a ceremony on 11th avenue to honor, thank, and acknowledge those who served.

Organizer of the event Lloyd Peck says it was a great turn out for the veterans.

"All those months I worked, I visited places, talked to them, asked them to come and be in the Veterans Day parade to honor our veterans, present and past, and we honored a marine today, which over 7,000 marines died there. It's a great privilege what I do and I am glad to do it. I have three dead cells in my heart but I just keep going and going."

Peck says the Blair County War Veterans Council operates completely off donations, and they are very grateful for the community.
