PITTSBURGH (TND) — A man and a woman were killed in a house explosion in the Pittsburgh-area Tuesday morning, according to multiple reports.
The explosion occurred in Crescent Township, which is located in Allegheny County, shortly before 9 a.m.
Crescent Township Fire Chief Andrew Tomer spoke during a news briefing. According to WTAE, Tomer described it as "a very significant explosion."
"You could feel it in your chest," he reportedly said.
Aerial video from KDKA shows the home leveled and debris scattered across the lawn, with first responders working the scene.
"Allegheny County Emergency Services is assisting first responders in Crescent Township following a house explosion on the 1400 block of Riverview Road. This remains an active incident. The scene is in a remote location and we’re asking everyone to avoid the area in order to allow responders access," the county noted in a social media post.

A man who lives nearby described it as "a massive" explosion that "shook everything for miles."
"Time to pray now that it's not one of our kids' friends' houses and hopefully nobody was home," the man noted on social media.
