A Reedsville man charged with murder in connection to the disappearance of a Huntingtown, Maryland man appeared in Mifflin County court on Wednesday afternoon, one week after he was taken into custody.

During the hearing, the judge approved the extradition of 47-year-old Brandon Holbrook, who was arrested last week as police were investigating the disappearance of 51-year-old Joseph Anthony Shymanski.

Shymanski was reportedly a prominent photographer in the D.C. area.

He was reported missing on Labor Day and the investigation led authorities to a property in Brown Township, Mifflin County, where police say human remains were discovered.

Police say the remains have not yet been identified but they are believed to belong to Shymanski.

During Wednesday's hearing, the judge stated that authorities in Maryland have "unlimited time to come and get him (Holbrook)."

Investigators noted that federal authorities are also involved in the case and will likely be handling any future charges against Holbrook, including charges related to the discovery of the remains.
